Human Mind & Thoughts

Travelling gets me numerous thoughts that are unanswered. One such thought comes to me when travelling and observing new land. The unknown people, their thoughts, their subjects over which they will be indulging. Waiting at traffic signal you see people coming and stoping by you, occupied in their thoughts. Have we thought what thoughts they will be dwelling on. May be the answer also is what thoughts I dwell when I am driving or waiting at signal.

This thought brings me options, what a normal human thinks all the time. I refer to normal human as Yogi's manage their thoughts. So the pandora of options open with subjects like; happiness, worries, struggles, memories, dreams, goals, achievements, failures, problems and much more of these kinds. But all the options are either about self or experiences, be it with unknowns. Experts say around 50,000-70,000 thoughts a human gets through the day.

There once was a training I was attending and were the trainer asked us to keep our one problem on table in a chit with complete narration and mix the chits. Then you pick one chit and work on problem that is not yours. We all were initially excited with the thought of giving away our problem. Later when pick other's problem and started working on solving it, we realised solving own problem was a better option. This exercise was for us to sample out that inspite of we worried about our problem, we are happy with our problems and do not want to be in other persons shoe to solve their problems. This also represents the ideology of 'grass is always green on other side'.

I am yet to meet anyone who will tell me that I have no worries or problems in life. Someone is dealing with family issues or financial crisis and if not then health problems or social status issues. As a normal human we all have our share of challenges to overcome and when you don't have what will be purpose of your day/week/month/year. We need a day pack with activities to do or get engaged, otherwise its a dull day.

If I come to think of it, generally we do things that we have to or like to. Have to consists of compulsory and Like to consist of happiness. Why do we still do more of have to and less of like to. Ask yourself can you reduce your have to do list and increase your like to do list. And next time you stop at a traffic signal look around and take a break from your thoughts to feel others.
