What is Anger? How to Manage it?

To win over your enemy, you need first to understand them. Why is anger your enemy? Ancient archives mention that anger is not suitable for health. When you are angry, your body releases a chemical which adversely affects your health; hence it is your enemy. Anger is a letter short to Danger...

So what is anger? It is a reaction you give when you have an unpleasant experience. So it is a reaction that you give in any given situation. Who owns the response? It is the person who is reacting to the problem. Hence, the onus of the reaction is of the person who is giving it. Owner is responsible for his/her belongings. Which means react at owner risk.

The first step is to control the reaction. You are the owner of your reaction, so you are only the only one who can manage it. To manage your reaction you need to be in self-control. You have to understand that any situation or experience that is making you angry is it worth the effects you are doing to your body, what is more, critical yourself or reacting to the situation.

Cause of anger is also a lack of control over your emotions. When you are in complete control of your feelings, you don't tend to react, you respond. There will be times when your no reaction is not seen in good light; hence you have to respond and not react in anger.

The second step is to respond to the situation. You can respond when you have control over your thoughts to reply truthfully. Think of the situation and then manage your response, be it verbal or action, whichever it may be. Aggression is good if positive when it is out of your control; it is negative.

Health conditions are another reason for anger. Increased level of bad cholesterol, high pressure or any physical discomfort makes you agitated in the smallest of situations. When physical conditions are not soothing, you tend to stay edgy.

The third step is to stay healthy and keep your health checks well scheduled if you know you have health conditions. Physical health is our primary responsibility, and if we keep this machine well maintained, we are sorted in life.

I can say this that your anger depends most of on three conditions; physical health, emotional health and spiritual health. Here, when I am saying spiritual, I am referring to the health of your soul/spirit. One needs to have complete control over all these three aspects of life to have a balance in your behaviour and response.

Anger is no good in any situation, as your anger is unpleasant to you, and it is even worse to the factors around you, be it people or environment. Any decision taken in anger is never rational; it is always influenced by the thought you have in your mind at a given point of rage. The expression of rage always creates adverse effects even on your loved ones or well-wishers. You tend to take yourself away from the purpose; a person who can gently represent his anger is the real yogi.

Next time before getting angry think if you want to represent your bad health in terms of physical, emotional or spiritual. Do you want to show a lack of control on yourself or want to stay blissful by responding to the worst of situations?
