Why do you need a Mentor?

Its a competitive world. You need to stand out in the crowd and prove your value when chanced. It will be superficial if you claim to do it alone. Even Mark Zuckerburg has a mentor and he has seeked help and support at different instances. We have our goals and some goals are unattainable if we over view. Mentors are the ones who transform our thoughts from unattainable to attainable.

I have explained my thoughts on how to do effective mentoring in my previous article. Few approached me, why you do you require mentor? Why so much emphasis on effective mentoring? Mentor generally are not bosses neither do they have any direct role to play in your career or goal achievement. Which impaled me on writing this article. 

We have concentrated so much  on our own jobs that we forget our goals. We over see our personal growth. It is definitely significant to deliver our responsibilities, but that do not give you edge. If you want to grow personally in professional life, you need to seek mentoring. 

It is not necessary that you seek mentor from your current company. You can seek mentor from any part of your network. What you have to keep in mind is how will it impact your personal growth. What value will it add to your graph. The graph movement should be upwards with your mentor's mentoring.

Learning Curve

To grow, you need to widen your knowledge base. Mentor helps you with more insight on areas you lack. They offer us with inputs which will help us climb the ladder quicker. Sometimes we have the information but we are unable to execute. They help us with the window to get our ideas explained. Through our ideas they give us opportunities to explore.

Mark Self

Mentor gives us the edge to represent ourselves into the competitive world. They show us the worth of self. They help us understand our own capabilities and makes us come out of our comfort zone. 

Navigate US

We on day to day bases have small-small things we seek guidance for. If we keep going back to our bosses they find us incompetent. In that case whom to seek advice. The answer is your mentor. They are generally available for you and provide you with the right information. You can discuss with them anything under the roof, either that be your road blockers or office politics. They will give you if not solution at least righter perspective.

Grooms your Dream

Mentor gives you the confidence that we can convert your dream into reality. They guide you achieve your goals and reach the final destination. They have the bird view of our capabilities viz our lacuna. They gives us the right direction and also help us when we are in need.

Overall Success

It is surveyed that people who have mentors to go back to; have better job satisfaction, higher promotion rates, higher future income, increased work success and higher retention rate. Mentor offers professional support and also spiritual at the times when you are down. They also counsel mentees at required instances and show the focus, which helps you succeed. 

They are the source of inspiration who shows us the light in the time of need and also ray of hope in times of depression.
