Work Environment Impact on Efficiency
When the word WORK ENVIRONMENT comes your mind, is the feeling you get when you are at office. If the word is negative it is time to be alert, either you need to communicate to management or rework on your style.
HR role has been very dominant in recent time to make sure that work environment should be positive as it affects to great extent to the efficiency of output. But it is not limited to the HR department, it has extended its boundaries much beyond the HR role.
When the environment is negative resource tends to be depressed, feels exhausted all the time, always in defensive mode and feels like sitting in a cage for which he is paid. The only motivation to be in the cage is payment. But is this what a organization is looking for; the answer is definitely not.
It is important for each and every resource to feel important in the organization as being human what we require is to be felt present. We all go to work to contribute and create value. But the feeling of creating value dies; when we don't feel like going to office when you wake up in the morning. So we drag ourselves to office just for the sake of it and then in turn the productive is also dragged.
What you can do to make the environment positive? Some things we as individual can do and some we encourage others to do. Things you can do; Dress confident with fresh and lively colors that will enlighten your mood as well as fill you with freshness, give your desk a homely & warm feeling with things you like, when talking to people make them feel comfortable (if you don't want to talk to anyone don't talk but don't make the other person realize to pass the negativity) and most important if you are happy you will pass on the happiness, but if you are not in right frame of mind isolate yourself.
You can encourage positivity by setting examples of team work, effective communication and humanity. When you walk the talk people will value you and give you importance and the cycle will run for you.
We spend 40% of day and 50% of our active time at work, you have to make this place worth it which you can only do. So next time you have a doubt of going to work tell yourself you can make it worth your time and create value for the organization and yourself.
